I have to take a moment here, and thank my inspirations: my husband who always supports and encourages me, my mother who has done an AMAZING job herself this last year in embracing a healthier lifestyle and losing weight, and the Ludwig clan, whose brilliant minds got together and created a family health challenge. I WILL be winning that $50 in March, so watch out!
So, I now have had four successful days of sticking to my Weight Watchers eating regiment, exercising daily (I love Just Dance!), and drinking enough water to cause me to now frequent the bathroom enough that I felt the need to leave some reading material in there ("Rebecca" by Daphne du Maurier). Now I find myself at the point of wanting to do things to make my health goals feel more concrete, like putting a chart on the kitchen whiteboard outlining my goals, and starting a blog about my journey that I will force family and friends to read and offer encouraging messages on. And tonight, when my husband came home from work, I made him take a "before" photo of me, something I have never done before.
That said, I haven't done before and after shots before because I generally don't like them. The awkward half-nude photos where people look really ugly and then magically learn to stand in flattering positions, smile, and wear makeup just to show you how much they have transformed. My before picture is different. I am not setting weight-loss and healthy living goals to become beautiful. I ALREADY AM beautiful. My husband would say sexy. So I look happy, sexy, and awesome like I am. By 2015 I will still look happy, sexy, awesome, and healthier.
But that's a whole year away. Happy 2014!
